Product Overview

The Resideo ADPT-LTEMPX is an adapter cable that allows the LTEM-PXA and LTEM-PXV communicators to connect to an external antenna. Without this adapter, it is impossible to connect an LTEM-PX Series communicator to an external antenna when you need to boost its signal strength.

Each LTE communicator offered by Resideo has an antenna that's built inside the unit. This antenna offers a signal gain of just over 1dBi. Sometimes, due to the communicator's mounting location, the geographic location of the building to be protected, or the topography of the area, the received signal strength at the communicator is too low to allow for trouble-free operation. In such cases, an external antenna may be the answer.

The external antenna offered by Resideo comes in a standard product, as well as three (3) kits which also include some adapters and a length of coaxial cable. The antenna itself is the CELL-ANT3DB. This option is perfect for someone who already has a coaxial cable to run between the communicator mounting location and the antenna mounting location. The antenna comes with several adapters as well as the antenna itself and mounting hardware. However, it does not come with the ADPT-LTEMPX, which is required if your communicator is an LTEM-PXA or LTEM-PXV.

The CELL-ANT3DB is weatherproof and can be mounted outside or inside. In addition to moving the antenna away from the communicator's mounting location, it also offers 3dBi of signal gain. You can help to determine the best mounting location for the antenna by allowing the communicator's battery to charge, then carrying the communicator outside on battery power and checking where the signal strength is strongest.

For those users who don't already have coaxial cable, there are also three kits available that include the CELL-ANT3DB and a pre-cut length of cable. Again, none of these kits come with the ADPT-LTEMPX. The kits are the CELL3DB5KT, which comes with a 5' (1.52m) length of coaxial cable, CELL3DB25KT, which comes with a 25' (7.62m) length of cable, and CELL3DB50KT, which comes with a 50' (15.24m) length of cable. It is not recommended to use a coaxial cable longer than 50' (15.24m) due to signal loss over that distance.

The ADPT-LTEMPX has an MHF connector at one end and an SMA connector on the other end. The cable is 10" (25.4cm) long. The MHF connector is the tiny end that connects to a spot on the actual radio board inside the communicator. The SMA connector looks like a smaller version of a coaxial cable connector. This is similar to what you may connect to your cable box, though probably slightly smaller.
